BG / BRG and HLW Köflach
The Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Köflach ( BG / BRG Köflach ) and the Höhere Bundeslehranstalt für Wirtschaftsbufe Köflach ( HLW Köflach ) are two schools in Köflach . The two schools share a school building.
The BG / BRG Köflach is the only grammar school with eight years of AHS training in western Styria .

- BG / BRG / BORG Köflach
On November 22, 1959, the West Styrian Parents' Association was founded in the festival hall of the community of Rosental an der Kainach to establish a grammar school in West Styria . Proponents included the mining inspector Egon Bram, the writer Alfred Seebacher-Mesaritsch and the university professor Erich Hönninger . In 1961, an entire class with 30 students was able to travel to Graz every day and was integrated into the Lichtenfels Federal High School and Federal Real High School . In 1964, the grammar school was started as a branch with seven classes with 280 students in the boys' elementary school in Köflach. The Viennese architect Rudolf Keimel won first prize in the 1968 architecture competition for the new school building . From 1970 the school was run independently. On September 17, 1970, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new school took place on a building site in front of the Dechantwald provided by the municipality of Köflach. The school was inaugurated on October 17, 1974 by Federal President Rudolf Kirchschläger with the Federal Minister for Buildings and Technology Josef Moser .

The school complex
The school is a modern school campus, the initial building was planned as a reinforced concrete skeleton structure in an innovative style for the 1970s by the Viennese architect Rudolf Keimel. It lies like a “city crown” over Köflach. Today there is a thermal bath and Hotel Nova next door .
It has a special science wing with modern laboratory rooms and three IT rooms .
There is also an extensive library, three gymnasiums renovated in 2006, a fitness room and outdoor facilities with a beach volleyball court.
Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium
The school offers two types of school, both of which lead to the Matura in eight years :
On the one hand, the focus is on languages .
