The Höpen Air has been a music festival that has been taking place near Schneverdingen since 1985 on the "Höpen open-air stage event area" in the Lüneburg Heath . The open-air festival is organized by the “Stadtjugendring Schneverdingen e. V. ”and in 2015 had around 5000 visitors.
history
The first Höpen Air took place on July 13, 1985. With one exception in 1990, the festival took place every year in mid-May / early June from then on. Until 2004 the festival was free; However, due to financial difficulties of the organizer, a lower admission price was introduced in 2005. Bringing your own drinks has only been prohibited since 2005. Due to falling visitor numbers, entry was free again in 2010. In 2011, an entry price of five euros was introduced again. The 2012 edition was attended by around 3,500 spectators, and the number of visitors increased again in the following years. The anniversary edition for the 30th birthday in 2015 was attended by 5000 spectators. Also in 2015 it was decided that the festival would only take place every second year in order to relieve the volunteer organizers of the time.
Although there was no entry fee for a long time, the organizers, with the help of some sponsors, managed to win over top-class bands for the festival. So already played Achim Reichel , Ian Cussick , Clowns & Helden , Wolf Maahn , Creme 21 , Illegal 2001 or H-Blockx in Höpental. Regionally known bands such as The Keltics , Town Fools or Everlaunch also performed at the festival. Young bands from the area complete the line-up. These compete against each other in a music competition in advance ; the winner appears at Höpen Air .
