Hüelte is a district of Frechen in the Rhein-Erft district to the north of the inner city area . The place has mostly residential developments. Huecheln has been the location of a private brewery since the Middle Ages , which has been offering a specialty developed by the late master brewer Wenzel Hintermeier in special glass jugs: the yeast-cloudy beer called Hüchelner Urstoff . Hüelte has 1452 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2012) and has merged with Buschbell to form a twin city district. The charitable organization, Freundes Hüugeln , which has existed since 1902, is particularly active in carnival and organizes the traditional autumn fair on the first Sunday in September, where the highlight is the Hahneköppen on Mondays.

Aegidius Chapel 2015

Aegidius Chapel

The Aegidius Chapel, the oldest building in the city, is located in Hüelte. The sacred building, which was built as the court chapel of the Baumannshof, dates from the 10th century, possibly earlier, as mortar samples have shown. In 1697 the building, which had been gothicized in the meantime, was fundamentally changed and given a baroque portal; In 1959, extensive restoration measures brought to light information about the development of the building's history. Some structural findings still leave unsolved riddles today; this includes the so-called confession window. The mosaic floor of the chapel consists of vertically placed clay plates that were used during the firing of vessels to stack the items to be fired in the stoneware furnace; therefore they are hard sintered . Today, services for family members and friends of the Baumann family are held in the chapel, as well as services on the Tuesday of the fair.

Hintermeier brewery

Urstoff

Huguenots had already had the right to brew the small brewery since 1723 . It had been owned by the Metzmacher family since the middle of the 19th century. There was no brewing between 1937 and 1949. On September 1, 1949, Wenzel Hintermeier († 1994) took over the entire facility. Stecken-Alt, later Stecken-Kölsch, Hüchelner Urstoff and, since 1992, Bartmann-Kölsch were brewed .
