Hünenbräuken

Hünenbräuken is the name given to the remains of a medieval tower hill castle (Motte), which are located in the Lürwald nature reserve on the southern outskirts of the Arnsberg district of Voßwinkel in the Hochsauerlandkreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The construction is dated to the 13th century.

The plant is located south of Vosswinkel in the angle between the Oestingsiepen and a southern Nebensiepen . There are no clear sources of the castle. In a feudal register of the Counts of Arnsberg there is talk of a curtis of a knight or ministerial Hunoldus de Plettenbracht. There may be a connection here with the castle. Archaeological investigations should give further clues.

The moth hill was separated in the west and south by a sharply cut neck ditch from the higher, slightly sloping terrain. In the south there was a bailey that was secured by ditches.

There are relatively well visible remains in the area. The castle is entered in the list of monuments of the city of Arnsberg as a ground monument.
