Hüscheid

Hüscheid is a district of the city of Königswinter in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It belongs to the district and the district of Ittenbach , on December 31, 2019 it had 161 inhabitants.

The hamlet of Hüscheid is located 1.5 kilometers northeast of Ittenbach and two kilometers south of the center of Oberpleis at the transition from the Pleis hill country to the Asbach plateau ( Niederwesterwald ) on a terrain that slopes northeast to the Pleisbach . The village covers altitudes between 180 and 200  m above sea level. NHN . The Pleisbach arises southeast of Hüscheid from the confluence of Logebach and Quirrenbach . A larger forest area borders with the Grafenbusch to the south . The closest localities includeNonnenberg in the north and Graefenhohn in the west.

history

Hüscheid first appeared in a document in 1326 as Hoescheit . Hüscheid belonged as an honor to the parish Ittenbach in the electoral office of Wolkenburg . After the electorate of Cologne was dissolved in 1803, Hüscheid was assigned to the mayor's office of Königswinter (until 1813, Mairie Königswinter ) and from 1846 belonged to the politically independent municipality of Ittenbach. In Hüscheid there was a grinding mill until at least the middle of the 19th century , which in 1816 had four inhabitants. In the census of 1843, Hüscheid is recorded as the "former Honschaft Hüscheid" with 235 inhabitants and 1885 with 80 inhabitants.

The exploitation of two north-western mineral veins , which contain copper , lead and zinc ores , had economic importance for the place . The Johannessegen mine was operated for a long time with a lead-zinc vein, but it was no longer significantly exploited by the middle of the 19th century.

In Hüscheid there is a war memorial for those who fell in the First and Second World Wars . It consists of a votive cross from 1886 made of trachyte with an altar plate, shell niche and cast-iron body as well as two flanking stone blocks with the names of the fallen. The war memorial is below three linden trees and stands as a monument under monument protection .
