Həmid Həbib Qasımbəyov

Həmid Həbib Qasımbəyov ( Azerbaijani Qasımbəyov Həmid Həbib bəy oğlu  ; Russian Гамид Габиб Касумбеков ; * 3. May 1923 in Nakhchivan ; † 22. April 2005 in Baku ) was a Soviet vice-admiral and commander of the Caspian Flotilla Azerbaijanis.

Life

Qasımbəyov graduated from middle school in 1940 with "distinction" and then began studying at the Faculty of Railway Construction at the Moscow Institute of Transportation Engineering . In addition to his training, he worked as a blacksmith in a non-ferrous metal processing company. After the outbreak of the German-Soviet War , he served in the air defense in the Soviet capital. From the end of December 1941 he studied at the Caspian Higher Naval War School in Baku . As an officer student he participated in the protection of war and cargo ships and in the search for German submarines in the Black Sea. From February 1945 he served in the Black Sea Fleet . He was then commanded to Vladivostok to take over ships built in the USA. He served in the Pacific Fleet on an anti-mine vehicle and participated in demining the Kuril Islands , Port Arthurs , the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan .

In 1949 Qasımbəyov moved to the Baltic Fleet , where he continued his career from commander of a minesweeper division, to commander of the 71st Dropship Brigade, to chief of staff of the Baltic naval base in Baltiysk . In 1971 he was appointed rear admiral and in January 1973 commander of the Baltic naval base and the Baltiysk garrison. He finished his military service on July 9, 1984 as commander of the Caspian Flotilla (1977-1984) with the rank of vice admiral.
