HARD: LINE Festival
The HARD: LINE Film Festival is an international film festival that takes place annually in Regensburg . The festival emerged from the monthly film series of the same name and focuses primarily on contributions from extreme film genres such as horror, thriller or science fiction.
development
Since January 2010, HARD: LINE has been showing regular films from the marginal genres of horror , thriller and science fiction in Regensburg . Every last Saturday of the month, contributions from extreme film art find their place in the late-night program of the cinemas in the Andreasstadel and are introduced by media studies . The great media attention and the popularity of the audience meant that a film festival was organized for the first time in 2013 for the monthly series, which focuses on the highlights of the year. The program has been expanded annually since then. In 2016 the festival had to change location due to the great popularity. It is currently a guest with 20 performances in Ostentor cinema , one of the oldest cinemas in Germany. In 2018 the festival was examined for admission to the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) and passed. HARD: LINE has been the only Méliès festival in Germany since 2019 and is one of the 100 most important genre festivals worldwide.
Sections and prices
In 2014, for the first time, one of the audience favorites was chosen from all the films shown during the festival. Out of competition was the contribution from the final evening, which was shown as a surprise film in a Regensburg pub. With the expansion of the program to a total of eleven films, the 2015 festival featured two cinemas and, in addition to highlights with a commercial focus (section: Spotlights), also showed four independently produced films that had to get by without a large budget (section: Perspective). A crowd favorite was chosen in each of the two sections. With the addition of a festival day and the move to a larger cinema, another section (Directors Spotlight) was founded. In 2017 the two film sections were reunited. The director's focus was retained. With the admission to the Méliès International Festivals Federation, two short film blocks were included in the program. The Méliès D'Argent Award for the best European fantastic short film is determined by an international jury.
