The HK Spartak Saint Petersburg ( Russian ХК Спартак Санкт-Петербург ) is a former Russian ice hockey club from Saint Petersburg . The team played in the Vysschaya League until 2007 and played their home games at Dworez Sporta Spartak. The club colors are white and red.
history
The ice hockey department of Spartak Leningrad was founded in 1947 and immediately started playing in the 2nd gruppa . In 1962 the club rose to Class A , the highest Soviet division, and was relegated back to the second division. In this, the team remained until the end of the 1964/65 season, before the ice hockey department was dissolved.
The club was revived in 1996 and initially operated primarily youth work. 1997 a men's team was formed, which was included in the third Russian division, the Pervaya League . The team's first head coach was Gennady Zygankow . With first place in the center division, Spartak rose in 1998 to the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division. In this, the club held until the end of the 2006/07 season before it was dissolved. Since then, the Molodjoschy Klub Spartak has been doing youth work in Saint Petersburg.
