The international free port Giurgiuleşti ( Romanian Portul Internațional Liber Giurgiuleşti ) is a free port on the 460 meter long Danube access to the Republic of Moldova (Moldova).
It is the largest port and the southernmost point of the country and is located in the Rajon Cahul near the village of Giurgiuleşti in the triangle Moldova - Romania - Ukraine at the confluence of the Prut into the Danube on the north bank at river kilometer 133.8.
The port operated by a Dutch company with an oil, general cargo and passenger terminal is Moldova's only access to a sea and is accessible to seagoing vessels with a draft of up to 7 m . It is therefore an important logistics center on the border with the EU with a good transport infrastructure. In 2014 the port operator had 466 employees.
The Danube port of the Romanian city of Galați is a few kilometers upstream, that of the Ukrainian city of Reni is a few kilometers downstream.
