Hagbarth Martin Schytte-Berg
Hagbarth Martin Berg , later called Schytte-Berg , (born July 15, 1860 in the municipality of Buksnes on the Lofoten , Norway ; † November 13, 1944 in Trondheim , Norway) was a Norwegian architect .
Education and career
Until 1879 Schytte-Berg studied at Trondheims Tekniske Læreanstalt in Norway. From 1882 to 1883 he studied as a student of Conrad Wilhelm Hase at the Technical University of Hanover . He then worked as a draftsman in Trondheim and Kristiania, today's Oslo , until he opened his own office in Skien in 1887 . From 1889 to 1890 he began studying at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg . There he devoted himself mainly to sacred architecture as a student of Johannes Vollmer . After completing his studies, he returned to Norway and became a teacher himself at the tekniske skole in Skien. From 1895 to 1904 he worked mainly in Kristiania. When a major fire in 1904 almost completely destroyed the city of Ålesund in Fylke Møre og Romsdal , he became one of the leading architects who played a key role in the reconstruction. From 1907 he worked in Trondheim.
Schytte-Berg had been a member of the Bauhütte zum Weißen Blatt in Hanover since 1882 .
