history

In 1964 Hagebau was founded as a purchasing association of 34 specialist building material dealers. Seven years after it was founded, the hundredth shareholder joined Hagebau. In 1979 the first Hagebau store opened. In 1995 Hagebau Austria was founded. In 1997 the Hagebau Timber Trade division was launched. In 2007 the tile / natural stone area was integrated as the third specialist trade division and in the same year Hagebau founded the online trade platform Baumarkt Direkt together with the Otto Group . ZEUS , Headquarters for Purchasing and Service GmbH & Co. KG, has been a 100 percent subsidiary of Hagebau since 2013 . Hagebau had been involved in ZEUS since 2003. On January 1, 2018, ZEUS was completely absorbed by Hagebau as hagebau retail . Hagebau Retail looks after the retail business - and thus the Hagebaumarkt franchise system - as a system provider and service provider. In July 2019, Baumarkt Direkt was completely taken over by Otto, which ended Hagebau's cooperation with Otto.

Divisions

Building material dealers

In its core business of building materials specialist trade, Hagebau is one of the market-leading groups in Germany with more than 900 building materials specialist stores. The Hagebau building material dealerships offer a range for everything to do with home and garden. At the headquarters in Soltau, specialists develop tailor-made concepts for building materials dealers, wood dealers and tile dealers, among others, who have very different requirements due to their activities - from purchasing to logistics to marketing and sales. To optimize the range of services, Hagebau has founded various subsidiaries and acquired stakes in other companies.

Wood dealers

Purchasing bundling, product range development and marketing are managed from the Soltau headquarters. Special specialization systems and specialist groups are aimed at the target groups of professional and end customers. In addition to products and specialist advice, dealers offer customers various services such as exhibitions and cutting.

Tile dealers

In January 2007, the former joint venture CC Ceramic GmbH & Co. KG between the partners Hagebau and IGA, Architekturbaustoffe GmbH & Co. Handels KG, Essen, was integrated into Hagebau as the third specialist trade division. The new tile / natural stone division bundles purchasing functions, specialization systems and marketing activities. The tile retailer offers articles related to marble and ceramic tiles. Purchases are made worldwide through intermediaries and direct imports. In the tile / natural stone division, Hagebau has developed the IGA own-brand program, which is located in the upper price and quality spectrum, with a regional unique position and sales sovereignty.

Hagebau markets

One sales channel for the retail trade are the more than 365 Hagebau stores operated in the franchise system in Germany and Austria, which are available in different sizes and with a different range of items. Retail is organized in hagebau retail. In addition to the classic DIY range, many Hagebau markets also offer a garden center . The Hagebau stores in Germany and Austria achieved cumulative net sales of 2.04 billion euros in the 2014 financial year.

Hagebaucentren

The Hagebaucentren are a combination of specialist and retail trade . A building materials or wood specialist shop and a Hagebau market - often with a garden center - are located here under one roof.

Logistics locations

Five logistics locations - located on the autobahn - in Neumünster , Westerkappeln , Herten , Schleinitz and Burgau offer a range of 6,000 to 10,000 items for building material, wood and tile dealers as well as for Hagebau's stores and garden centers.
