Hajo Müller

Hajo Müller (born February 24, 1931 in Dresden ; † February 13, 2020 there ) was a German actor and opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Müller's father worked as a teacher, his mother gave piano lessons. For social reasons, neither of them pursued their own singing careers. After three years of singing lessons Müller received his first engagement at the Theater Döbeln and sang in the Magic Flute to Sarastro . He soon moved to the Chemnitz Opera , where he stayed for two years. Further engagements took him to Plauen and Schwerin . In Weimar he was awarded the honorary title of chamber singer . Until a stage accident in which his feet got caught in parts of the scenery and fell badly, Müller could be seen in 150 roles on the stage in around 3500 performances.

Müller took part in several films and musicals , e.g. B. 1987 in the GDR television series Spuk aus outside as Grandpa Rodenwald. He was always committed to the new generation of singers . In 2001 he celebrated his 70th birthday and the 50th anniversary on stage at almost the same time.

Müller died in 2020 at the age of 88.
