Hakkı Çimen

Hakkı Çimen (* 1957 in Dêsim in Eastern Anatolia ) is a German author of Turkish origin.

Life

Çimen, who comes from the Zaza ethnic group , emigrated to Germany in 1979 for political reasons and has been a teacher in Krefeld since 1980 . He was arrested twice in Turkey as part of ethnic and religious persecution by the Turkish state. His collection of short stories Budelaê Girsi was confiscated in Turkey. Hakkı Çimen has been a German citizen since 1998.

He writes fairy tales , poetry , stories , short stories , reports and essays as well as articles for German and Zaza magazines that give insight into the customs, traditions, mentality and religion of the Zaza.

In 1992 he was a prizewinner at the poetry competition of Petrol-Iş , the largest Turkish union with the poetry collection Kirmizili Sari Yesil . He is a member of the Krefeld literature workshop.
