Location of the Haldane River |
The Haldane River is a tributary of Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories of northern Canada .
The Haldane River has its origin in a nameless lake about 12 km from the border with Nunavut . The north-flowing Horton River and the east- flowing Bloody River have their origins in the vicinity. The Haldane River flows north of the Arctic Circle in a predominantly southerly direction to the Great Bear Lake. Its mouth is on the north bank of the Great Bear Lake. The Big Spruce River flows to the west and the Bloody River to the east. The Haldane River has a length of about 160 km. Its catchment area covers 3940 km². The mean discharge is 12 m³ / s.
