Halle-Hettstedter mountain bridge
The hall-bridge Hettstedter mountain referred to in the regional geology Central or East Germany , a NW-OSO sweeping narrow saddle-like bulge ( anticline ) that the Paläozoikum of Halleschen porphyry dome area connects with the Paläozoikum of the resin. It is mostly covered by younger sediments and only has a relief effect in the area of the breakthrough valley of the Saale between Friedeburg and Könnern ; the upper Paleozoic ( Rotliegend ) is included here.
The Halle-Hettstedter mountain bridge was lifted by tectonic movements at the beginning of the Obereocene. As a result of the uplift, the bay of the Upper Ocene Sea in the Halle (Saale) / Leipzig area was cut off from the direct connection to the open sea in the northwest. The connection to the open sea was now in an arc to the east around Halle.
The western part of the mountain bridge, the Hettstedter Sattel, is the northern boundary of the (geological) Mansfeld Mulde, which geomorphologically corresponds to the Mansfeld Platte . The eastern part to the east of the Saale breakthrough near Rothenburg is known as the Rothenburg Saddle .
The Saale valley in the area of the Halle-Hettstedter Gebirgsbrücke lies in the Lower Saale valley nature park , some slopes of the Saale gorge near Rothenburg form the non-contiguous nature reserve " Saale gorge near Rothenburg ".
