The Halleluja Ramblers was a New Orleans jazz formation founded in 1960 from Constance .

history

The band had its origins in the Raiteberg youth center. Among other things, the band gave a benefit concert for the church building association in Kehl in 1964 and in the same year recorded the first of a total of seven records, four of which were long-playing records . Concerts in southern Germany and Switzerland followed, and a trip to New Orleans at his own expense , where it was announced at a concert as "Modern Jazz from Berlin". Two years later they were the first German band to be invited to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival . The new record was sold out immediately. In 1977 a USA tour followed, including a concert in the Preservation Hall . In total, the formation made four tours in the United States. Concert tours have been made to France , Italy , Switzerland and Austria . There were also several radio appearances at home and abroad. In 1990 they gave their 30th anniversary concert in the K9 cultural center in Konstanz in the Paulskirche. The band organized two major events per year, the so-called "Riverboat Shuffle" tours, and a big concert at the turn of the year.

On January 15, 2016, Kurt Schreiner died after a brief serious illness, who led the band as the last founding member until his death. At one of their USA gymnastics, the band members received honorary citizenship of the city of New Orleans.

The band had their own music label called HRKR (Halleluja Ramblers Konstanz Records) from the 1980s.
