history

Brewhouse from 1903

The origins of the Löwenbrauerei Hall go back to the Deutelin family from Hall, who have been brewing beer since 1724. In 1851, Georg Friedrich Deutelin built a new restaurant with an attached brewery - the “Zum Löwen” inn - in Schwäbisch Hall. Friedrich Erhard, a brewer from the region who married into the Deutelin family, expanded the local brewery and was the founder of the Löwenbrauerei Hall. The company has been family-owned since it was founded by Friedrich Erhard.

A new brewhouse was built in 1903 in Hall's Katharinenvorstadt. At the end of the eighties, for reasons of space, the Löwenbrauerei Hall moved to the Ritterwiese in front of the gates of the old town, where the “Haller Löwenbräu” is still brewed today.

The raw materials water, hops and malt required for the brewing process are sourced exclusively regionally as far as possible. The brewing water comes from the surrounding mineral springs of the Wildbadquelle in the Swabian-Franconian Forest . After the hops were initially grown in their own hop gardens, the Löwenbrauerei Hall has been sourcing them from Baden-Württemberg and the nearby growing areas in Bavaria since the 1940s. The brewing barley, and with it the malt, is obtained from malthouses in Baden-Württemberg .
