Halo 3: ODST is a first-person shooter developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios . It is part of the Halo franchise and was released on September 22, 2009 on Xbox 360 . On May 30, 2015, Halo 3: ODST was released as a paid download extension to the Master Chief Collection . The said collection will be released for Windows on an unannounced date. A total of 5.9 million games were sold.

The story is set between the events of Halo 2 and Halo 3 and depicts the battle for Earth from the point of view of the Orbital Jump Shock Forces (ODST) of Dares Squad. The place of action is the city of New Mombasa. The player does not take on the role of the Master Chief, but that of an UNSC-ODST-Marine, who is a newcomer (rookie) in the troop of the ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers). The ODST are known under the name "Helljumper". They wear this thanks to their risky way of being deposited on a planet.

Halo 3: ODST was officially launched on October 9, 2008 at the Tokyo Game Show under the name Halo 3: Recon . On November 25, 2008, it was renamed Halo 3: ODST . The game is a stand-alone - add-on to Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. The release was on September 22, 2009. Advertised was the game, as already Halo 3 , with a live-action campaign that a ODST- Shows recruits fighting the aliens.

Soundtrack

The soundtrack was composed and produced by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori . The Sumthing Else Musicworks label is responsible for distribution. The soundtrack was released on September 22, 2009.

Awards

Lev Grossman and Peter Ha ranked ODST as the eighth best game of the year for Time Magazine and praised the game as "a dark, slow, jazzy, hard-boiled take on the Halo world".
