The Halomonadaceae are a family of bacteria . They are part of the Oceanospirillales .

Appearance

Many species are motile by a flagella . The flagella are lateral or polar, depending on the species. A peritrichic Umgeißelung occurs in different ways. The cells occur individually, in pairs or as chains, depending on the type. Under certain conditions, different species of the genus Halomonas can also form long filaments. Among the untamed include z. B. the species Carnimonas nigrifican . Most species are rod-shaped. Kokkoid is z. B. the species Halomonas halodenitrificans . The majority are halo tolerant to halophilic. This is where the name Halomonadaceae comes from.

The species Halomonas titanicae , which was first described in 2010 , was found on the wreck of the Titanic .

metabolism

All species of the Halomonadaceae are heterotrophic . They are aerobic or facultatively anaerobic .
