List of train stations in Austria |
The Vienna Hirschstetten stop is in the 22nd district of Vienna , in the Hirschstetten cadastral community . It is located at the Marchegger Ostbahn and provides an hourly direct connection to the main train station , and regional trains from Vienna main train station to Raasdorf or Marchegg stop here every hour .
history
The Hirschstetten-Aspern stop was opened in 1885. S80 trains have stopped here since the end of 1981 , for which the route between Erzherzog-Karl-Strasse and Hausfeldstrasse has been electrified and the stop has been completely renovated. At the end of 2004 it was renamed from Hirschstetten Aspern to Vienna Hirschstetten .
On June 7, 1886, the Floridsdorf - Hirschstetten - Groß-Enzersdorf steam tramway was officially opened. This line crossed the track of the Marchegger Ostbahn west of the stop described here at the same level, running on its own track at the edge of Hirschstettner Strasse . It was secured by means of a separate half-barrier for one of the tramway tracks. In 1922 the steam tramway was electrified and converted to tram operation, since then trains on lines 217 and 317 have stopped at the Hirschstetten-Aspern stop. The level crossing with the Marchegger Ostbahn remained unchanged. In the middle of 1970 the tram service in this section was given up, not least because of this unusual crossing. Since then, buses have been running as a replacement, although the offer has recently been thinned out considerably.
expansion
Between 2016 and 2018, the Marchegger Ostbahn between Vienna Erzherzog-Karl-Straße and Vienna Aspern was expanded to two tracks. During the construction of a replacement track north of the existing embankment and the construction of a replacement platform in Guido-Lammer Gasse, the S80 was stopped. The trains of the Schnellbahn ran only to Erzherzog-Karl-Strasse. Since the completion of the work, the S80 no longer ends in Hirschstetten , but has been extended to the new Vienna Aspern station, with the Vienna Hausfeldstrasse station being closed. In the course of the work, the Hirschstetten stop was completely rebuilt in an elevated position with a 160 m long and around 7.5 m wide central platform, to the west and east of which the Hirschstettner Strasse and the Contiweg cross the railway by means of an underpass. A lift was installed per staircase for people with restricted mobility.
Lines in the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region
Buses from line 22A have been stopping at the Hirschstetten stop since the end of May 2017, and buses from lines 95B and 98A also operate during rush hour during school hours.
