Hamadoni

Hamadoni is a district in the extreme south of Tajikistan , near the border with Afghanistan .

Administrative structure

The Hamadoni district comprises eight sub-districts ( dschamoat ), which roughly correspond to municipalities: Dashtigul (14 577 inhabitants), Mehnatobod (16 073 inhabitants), Tschubek (16 791 inhabitants), Kalinin (9 997 inhabitants), Qahramon (14 364 inhabitants) , Turdiev (7 834 inhabitants), Panjob (7 669 inhabitants) and Moskva (17 983 inhabitants). The city of Moskva or Moskovskiy is also the capital of the district.

geography

The geography of the region is shaped by the landscapes along the Pandsch River , which forms the border with Afghanistan in the Hamadoni district. The Hamadoni district is located west of the Pamir Mountains and south of the Hissar Mountains , making it one of the flatter parts of the mountainous country of Tajikistan.

Infrastructure

Overall, the infrastructure in the region is poorly developed. As part of a municipal infrastructure project, a better infrastructure is to be built in the communities in southern Tajikistan, especially in the areas of waste disposal, sanitation and water supply.

traffic

The A385 trunk road is of central importance for the Hamadoni district. This runs in the south of the country along the Pandsch through the Hamadoni district and connects it with the cities of Danghara and the capital Dushanbe in the north of the country.

water

One of the largest infrastructure projects in the region is the Tschubek irrigation system. This irrigation system was laid out under Soviet rule in 1950 and is intended to bring the water of the Punj from the Chubek sub-district to other, drier areas in southern Tajikistan, for example to the neighboring region the city of Farkhor . In total, the project will irrigate more than 50,000 hectares of land in several districts in southern Tajikistan, 16,000 hectares of which are in the Hamadoni district. The Tajik government has plans to expand and modernize this system, which is very important for the region, in order to enable more efficient water use. As part of these plans, 23,216 meters of new pipes are to be laid in the Hamadoni district.
