Hamburg @ work is a cluster initiative for the MITT economy ( mass media , IT , telecommunications ) based in Hamburg . The initiative was founded in 1997 as a public private partnership and is supported by the Free and Hanseatic CityHamburg as well as companies that have come together in Hamburg @ work eV. On the government side, the members are supported by the Hamburg Authority for Economy and Labor (BWA) and the HWF Hamburgische Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung mbH. The main themes of Hamburg @ work are reflected in the three action lines in the areas of games (gamecity), Internet (webcity) and new television (newTV).

The aim of Hamburg @ work is to promote regional and national cooperation in the digital economy with the involvement of science and administration. Hamburg @ work describes itself as the first point of contact for all questions about the digital economy for institutions, companies and the public in Hamburg .

The main tasks of Hamburg @ work are:

  • Networking of companies from the IT and media industries with one another, with user companies, science and administration
  • Organization of regional and national specialist events
  • Initiation of cooperation to develop new projects
  • Providing information for and about the industry
  • Mediation of company and authority contacts
  • Relocation and integration support
  • Start-up and qualification advice
  • Funding advice

Current industry issues are discussed for specific target groups at trade fairs, congresses and in specialist groups. Examples of national events are the joint stand of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein at CeBIT 2007, speed dating on the IT recruiting day at CeBIT 2008 or the Hamburg IT strategy days.

According to its own information, Hamburg @ work had more than 2500 members from over 650 companies in August 2007. In addition to private individuals, the members include a. Media companies such as Gruner + Jahr and Axel Springer AG , IT companies such as Adobe Inc. and Intel, and telecommunications service providers such as Deutsche Telekom and HanseNet .

Hamburg @ work is a member of media.net berlinbrandenburg.
