Hamidiya or al-Hamidiyya ( Arabic الحميدية, DMG al-Ḥamīdīya ; Greek Αλ Χαμιντιά Al Chamintiá , Χαμιντιέ Chamintié or Χαμεντίγιε Chamentígie ) is a city on the Syrian coastline about three kilometers from the Lebanese border. It is located in the district of Tartus of the province of Tartus .

The town was built around 1897 on the direct orders of quickly Ottoman Sultans . Abdulhamid II founded to serve as a refuge for the Muslim Cretans to serve, often called Cretan Turks are called, although they Greek Muslims with Ottoman-Greek are a convert origin.
