Hande Fırat

Hande Fırat (born September 10, 1974 in Ankara ) is a Turkish journalist and television presenter .

Fırat studied media studies at Ankara University and started working for the news channel CNN Türk in 1999. 2014, it became the capital correspondent for the Dogan media , CNN Turk and Kanal D .

International recognition reached Fırat, as president to Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016 by FaceTime in a live broadcast on CNN Turk let her join and the people to calling on their private mobile phone to oppose on the road the rebels. Following Fırat, the Hürriyet journalist Abdulkadir Selvi , who was sitting next to her in the studio, also asked the president questions. According to general opinion, Erdoğan's appearance on CNN Türk contributed significantly to the suppression of the attempted coup.

At the end of 2016, she published a book entitled 24 Saat ( 24 hours ) about the events and background of the coup attempt.

After an article published in Hürriyet on February 25, 2017, about conflicts within the Turkish armed forces, Erdoğan Fırat accused of wanting to “bring about a coup”. Fırat denied the allegations, saying that she “only asked the chief of staff for his views”. The Hürriyet responded to the allegations with an apology, the editor-in-chief Sedat Engin resigned. According to media reports, a preliminary investigation has been launched against Fırat.
