The Chamber of Commerce Palais ( Romanian Palatul Camerei de Comerț ), also Chamber of Commerce Palace , is a listed four-story building on Piața Victoriei in the western Romanian city ​​of Timișoara .

History of the Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce of Timisoara in 1850 on adoption of the Emperor Franz Joseph I established. The first president of the institution was the businessman Ludwig von Bersuder. Initially, the Chamber of Commerce had its seat in the Lloyd-Palais until it got its own building. In 1949 the Timișoara Chamber of Commerce and Industry was banned by the new socialist rulers. In 1990 it was the first regional Chamber of Commerce to resume after the Romanian Revolution of 1989 .

Description of the building

Like most of the buildings on the square, the palace was designed by the architect László Székely and was built in 1933 to house the Chamber of Commerce in Art Nouveau style. The building has two facades, one facing Piața Victoriei and one facing Strada Nikolaus Lenau.
