Hanna Back

Hanna Bäck (born December 20, 1975 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish political scientist and university professor .

Life

Bäck studied political science at Stockholm University . After completing her BA in 1998, she moved to Uppsala University . After working in the USA , she was in Uppsala in October 2003 with the dissertation Explaining Coalitions. Evidence and Lessons From Studying Coalition Formation in Swedish Local Government. for Ph.D. PhD . In the postdoc phase, she initially stayed there, then moved to the European University Institute in Florence in 2005 and to the University of Twente in 2006 .

In 2007, Bäck accepted an appointment at the University of Mannheim as a junior professor at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research.In 2011, she first became a professor for political science at the University of Lund , and has been a full professor there since 2015 . She has also been an external fellow of the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES) since 2011 , and in 2012 she was also a fellow at Nuffield College at Oxford University .

Bäck deals with Western European parliamentary democracies , with political parties and the formation of coalitions and governments.

Awards

Bäck received the following awards:

  • 2002: Rudolf Wildenmann Prize for the best essay presented at the ECPR Joint Sessions in Grenoble 2001
  • 2004: Gunnar Hazelius Prize from Uppsala University for the best dissertation in the social and historical sciences
  • 2008: Vincent Wright Memorial Award for Best Article in West European Politics 2007
