Hanna Kobylinski

Hanna Kobylinski (born August 4, 1907 in Berlin ; † July 24, 1999 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish historian of German origin.

Life

The daughter of the pharmacist Sigismund Kobylinski (1872-1944) and Else Hanff (1881-1946) attended grammar school in Berlin and studied history and philosophy in Berlin, Freiburg and Heidelberg from 1926 to 1932. In 1932 she was about the reception of the French Revolution doctorate in Germany , the font was still printed in 1933. After the handover of power to the National Socialists , Kobylinski was able to travel with her brother to friends of the family in Copenhagen and work there at the university with the Danish historian Aage Friis , where she compiled a directory of Danish-Russian diplomatic correspondence from the 18th century. In 1939 she started a project with Isi Grünbaum on Chinese history.

A week before the Jewish campaign on October 1, 1943, she fled to Sweden with the Polish atomic physicist Stefan Rozental . After returning to Denmark, they married in 1949. He found a job with Oskar Klein in Stockholm . She did research with Karin Kock on the history of the Balkan countries at Gunnar Myrdal's Social Science Institute.

Back in Copenhagen she had various odd jobs as a translator into both languages, as a journalist for a monthly magazine and radio, and with Bodil Koch in the community college . She contributed the chapter on the "outbreak of war in the Pacific" to a story of the Second World War published by Gyldendal . Her further research into East Asian history led to various smaller publications and a multi-volume history of China, the first volume of which (until 1840) appeared in 1976, followed by the second in 1987 (until 1912).

Stefan Rozentals and their house was an important intellectual meeting place in Copenhagen.
