Hanna Sukare

Hanna Sukare (* 1957 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German-Austrian writer.

Life

Hanna Sukare grew up in the Breisgauer Bucht and in Heidelberg , and has lived in Vienna since her youth . She studied German , law , and ethnology and worked as a journalist, editor for the Falter and as a science lecturer. She has been working as a freelance writer since 2001. In 2004 she was invited to the Berlin-Rheinsberg Female Authors' Forum, and in 2006 she was in the finals of the Floriana Literature Prize. In 2007 she published a work as part of the Swabian Literature Prize . From 2008 to 2011 she undertook research trips to Poland, among other things for the documentary class reunion .

In 2016 she was nominated for the Alpha Literature Prize for her novel Staubzunge and was awarded the Rauris Literature Prize worth 8,000 euros . The novel reached fourth place on the ORF best list in January 2016 .

Her novel Schwedenreiter , published in 2018, was nominated for the European Union Literature Prize 2019 (Austria shortlist). The book deals with events during the time of National Socialism in Goldegg im Pongau and was on the ORF best list in October and November 2018.
