Hannes Wirlinger

Hannes Wirlinger (born 1970 in Linz ) is an Austrian scriptwriter and writer for young people.

Life

Wirlinger grew up in Lower Austria and went to study in the capital after graduating from high school . He studied communication science and political science at the University of Vienna . He later graduated from the Vienna Screenwriting School. He has been a freelance screenwriter since 2003 and has written numerous television scripts for the documentary series Fokus Mord and the crime series SOKO Kitzbühel . He also wrote an episode for the children's TV series Lilli the Witch in 2014 . The author is a member of the Austrian Script Association .

His debut novel “Der Vogelschorsch” (2019) depicts the burden of broken homes, friendship, death and love from the perspective of 14-year-old Lena, her emergency alliance with 17-year-old Georg, the introverted outsider “Vogelschorsch”. He received a six-month work grant with a total of 7,800 euros, the highest state funding for literature in Austria. The book was on Deutschlandfunk's “7 for young readers” list in August 2019.

Hannes Wirlinger lives and works in Vienna .
