Hanni Hölzner
Johanna "Hanni" Hölzner (born February 17, 1913 in Annaberg-Buchholz , † 1988 in Leipzig ) was a German swimmer and Olympic participant. She started for SV Annaberg 07 .
Life
Hölzner won the German championship in 1933 over 100 m back.
At the European Championships in Magdeburg in 1934 , she won the 200 m breaststroke with 3: 09.3 minutes, the silver medal behind her compatriot Martha Genenger (gold in 3: 09.1 minutes) and ahead of Dane Inger Kragh (bronze in 3:13 , 2 min.).
At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin , she managed a similar time with 3: 09.5 minutes, which brought her to fourth place. With her 3: 08.8 min. In the semifinals she would not have won a medal either.
After finishing her active career, she took over a chair at the German University of Physical Culture in Leipzig in 1953 , which she held until the late 1960s.
World records
Hanni Hölzner swam three world records over 100 m chest:
- 1: 24.5 min. On January 15, 1935 in Copenhagen (improvement of the old record of Australian Clare Dennis by 1 tenth)
- 1: 23.4 minutes on February 16, 1936 in Halle
- 1: 20.2 minutes on March 13, 1936 in Plauen (improvement of the only few days old record of the Dane Christensen by 2.6 seconds; the record lasted a good 7 years before it was set by Gisela Graß to 1:19, Has been pressed for 8 minutes)
