Martha Genenger
Martha Genenger (born November 11, 1911 in Krefeld , † August 1, 1995 in Moers ) was a German swimmer.
At the European Championships in Magdeburg in 1934 , she was European champion over 200 m breasts. At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 , the woman from Krefeld won the silver medal behind Hideko Maehata over the same distance . She set two world records and nine German records and was three times German champion ( 1934 , 1935 and 1936 ). She was trained by her stepfather. In 1936 Genenger married and later had two daughters. She lived in Kapellen until her death , where she founded the swimming department of TV Kapellen in 1967 in 1919 .
