Susanne Börnike (born August 13, 1968 in Brandenburg ) is a former swimmer who competed for the GDR .

Career

She won her first title in 1985 when she became GDR champion in the 200 meter medley. In the same year she reached the bronze medal over this distance at the European Swimming Championships . Her career highlights were the European championship title in 1987 in Strasbourg over 100 meters breast and 1989 in Bonn over 200 meters breast. In addition, she was able to win the gold medal in Bonn with the GDR's 4 × 100 meter relay.

At the Summer Olympics in Seoul in 1988 , she started over 200 meters breaststroke and was only able to qualify for the B final, which she also won, finishing ninth overall.

GDR doping
