Karla Linke (born June 29, 1960 in Dresden ) is a former swimmer who competed for the GDR.

The swimmer, who started for the SC Einheit Dresden , had her best time in the mid-1970s, when she first set a world record at the 1974 European Championships in Vienna and later secured the title in the 200 m breaststroke. Later she won medals at the swimming world championships in Cali over 400 m medley and over 200 m chest. At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montréal , she reached 8th place over 100 m breaststroke and 5th place over 200 m breaststroke.

At the swimming championships in the GDR Linke was able to win the title twice and came second twice and third once. She won her two championship titles in 1975 and 1976 over 200 m breasts.

After the sporting success subsided, she ended her career in 1977. Karla Linke lived in Sweden for a long time and worked for the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Dresden. She is currently working at the Swedish Embassy in Berlin .
