Adelaide Henriette den Haan (born May 14, 1941 in Eindhoven ) is a former Dutch swimmer . In the 1950s she was one of the best swimmers in her country.

Den Haan trained with the clubs Het Gooi Naarden and PSV Eindhoven . In November 1956 she improved the five and a half year old world record of the Hungarian Éva Novák over 200 m chest by over two seconds and with this performance was considered the top favorite for the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne . The boycott of the Netherlands because of the violent suppression of the Hungarian popular uprising by the Red Army dashed these hopes.

At the following European Championships in Budapest in 1958 , she won the title over 200 m breaststroke and with the 4 × 100 m individual relay . Two years later she had to be satisfied with two fourth places over 200 m chest and the 4 × 100 m relay at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome .

After finishing her career, she married the swimming coach Martien Swinkels.
