Hanover Tourist Office

history

After Theodor Unger published an early Hanover tourist guide through the city and its buildings in the German Empire in 1882 , the "Association for the Promotion of Tourism" was founded in 1883 and published its first tourist guide for Hanover two years later in 1885 . As a result, the club was renamed many times.

In 1900 the association had an office at Bahnhofstrasse 4 , which was later often relocated to other locations. After the Second World War , the association had its headquarters in the Laveshaus on Friedrichstrasse from 1957 , most recently at Prinzenstrasse 6 .

In 1986 Ralph Jarrett, managing director of the association and head of the city's tourist office, initiated the first Maschsee festival together with Harald Böhlmann, head of the cultural department .

In 2006, under the sponsorship of the tourist office and under strict rules, the flea market, since then known as the old town flea market , was revived.

Hannover Tourismus Service eV

The successor to the tourist association was the Hanover Tourism Service (HTS), which, under its association chairman Peter Richter, prepared the merger with the Hanover Circle of Friends.
