Hanns Heiß (born May 29, 1877 in Munich ; † May 31, 1935 in Freiburg i.Br. ) was a German Romance studies and literary scholar .

life and work

He received his doctorate in 1904 in Würzburg under Heinrich Schneegans on the heyday and decline of French burlesque fashion poetry of the 17th century (Erlangen 1905) and completed his habilitation in 1907 with studies on some relationships between German and French literature in the 18th century, I. The translator and mediator Michael Huber (1727-1804) (also in: Romanische Forschungen 25, 1908, pp. 720-800). From 1914 to 1919 he was professor at the TH Dresden , from 1919 professor for Romance philology in Freiburg .

He died at the age of 58.
