Hanns Jatzlau

Hanns Jatzlau (born October 23, 1926 in Liegnitz in Silesia ) is a German painter and draftsman .

Life

Hanns Jatzlau, son of an architect and a porcelain painter, lost his right hand in an accident in 1940.

From 1949 to 1951 he studied at the Werkkunstschule Hannover with Erich Rhein , then until 1958 at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg with Alfred Mahlau . In the meantime he attended Oskar Kokoschka's summer course in Salzburg in 1957 . He also studied zoology and botany . In 1960 he went from Hamburg to teach at the Werkkunstschule Hannover. As part of the exhibition “Painters See Our City”, he won the Continental Prize in Hanover in 1954 and in the same year received an international scholarship from the Vereinsbank Hamburg . 1963/64 he spent with the scholarship of the Villa Massimo in Rome .

In 1974 Jatzlau was appointed professor at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences. In 1985 Jatzlau received the main prize of the Silesian Culture Prize of Lower Saxony . He still lives in Hanover today.

In 1979 Hanns Jatzlau had his residence and studio in the street Rote Reihe 1 in Hanover.
