Hanns Simons

Hanns Simons (born April 18, 1925 in Leningrad ; † September 20, 1984 in Braunschweig ) was a German civil engineer and professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

Life

Hanns Simons was the son of the university professor Hanns Alexander Simons . He attended the Ratsgymnasium in Hanover and studied at the TH Hanover , where he also received his doctorate in 1957 . Simons then worked for Julius Berger AG for three years on the planning and execution of the Maracaibo Bridge in Venezuela and then became head of the technical office for civil engineering at Philipp Holzmann AG. In this role, he was involved in numerous major construction projects (tunnels, ports, dams, subway sections) in Germany, the Netherlands, Kuwait , Pakistan , Morocco , Thailand and Malaysia . In 1968 Simons received a teaching position at the TH Darmstadt . In 1974 he was appointed full professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig and appointed head of the newly founded Institute for Foundation Engineering and Soil Mechanics.

Simons was married to Lore Simons. The couple had three children, including Eva Möllring and two sons.
