Hans-Dieter Hermann

Hans-Dieter Hermann (born May 14, 1960 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German psychologist who is best known for his work as a sports psychologist . He has been working for the DFB since 2004 as a team psychologist for the German men's national soccer team and is also an executive coach for various national and international companies and an expert in ZDF Olympic reports .

Life

Hermann began to study medicine in Antwerp and eventually switched to psychology, which he completed at the University of Würzburg with a degree in psychology. In 1988 he went to Heidelberg University , where he took up a position as assistant to Hans Eberspächer at the Institute for Sport and Sport Science . In Heidelberg he worked from 1988 to 2005 as an associated psychologist at the Olympic Training Center in Rhein-Neckar and the integrated medical therapy and training center (MTT). He looked after various team athletes of the German Sports Federation (DSB, later DOSB), national teams and professional teams in the fields of hockey, gymnastics, boxing and judo.

He also worked with the Austrian national ski team. Between 2006 and 2010 he was a sports psychologist for the professional soccer team at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In 2004, the then DFB national coach Jürgen Klinsmann brought him to the German national soccer team as a sports psychologist. Since then, Hermann has looked after the national team at all training units and games as well as at major championships. These included the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland, the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine in 2012. The greatest success followed with winning the title at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, also at Hermann Was a member of the supervisory staff. For reporting on the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and in Sochi in 2014, he also worked as a sports psychology expert for ZDF.

Teaching

From 1991 Hermann was a lecturer for the subjects of sport psychology, stress and communication at the University of Heidelberg and from 2001 also at the Pedagogical University of Heidelberg . From 2008 to 2010 he was a professor at the University for Health and Sport in Berlin. Since 2010 he has been a professor at the German University for Prevention and Health Management and has been a visiting professor at the Sports Science Institute of Saarland University since 2013. Since July 2017, Hermann has held an honorary professorship at the Institute for Sports Science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. He gave his inaugural lecture there on July 13, 2017.

Hermann has been working as a management coach and lecturer since 1993. Together with his long-term business partner Jan Mayer , he is the managing director and co-owner of the Institute for Sport Psychology and Mental Coaching in Schwetzingen , which was founded in 2007 and which was renamed Coaching Competence Cooperation Rhein-Neckar in 2012 . Hermann is the winner of the German Psychological Society (awarded in 2010).

Private

Hermann has two children and lives with his family in Schwetzingen.
