Criticism and controversy

The "Harburg Center", demolished in 2019, a property that had been vacant for many years (it once housed a textile shop, a multi-storey car park and a thermal bath), was a failed real estate project in the center of Hamburg's Harburg district. The "Harburg Center" belonged to Hans-Dieter Lindberg, but stood on urban land. It was seen as a problem of local politics. Renovation projects failed repeatedly. Investor Lindberg blamed Harburg district politics and administration for this. However, he has been heavily criticized for years. Again and again he publicly announced the renovation, the move in of new tenants or the sale of the building, each of which failed. As part of the Harburg inner city dialogue, Lindberg and the administration were asked to finally find a sustainable solution. In 2017, the German subsidiary of the Dutch real estate developer BDP acquired the building, which was demolished in 2019. Rescheduling in the area of the foundation, the basement and the traffic concept led to a partial rescheduling of the new building.

Political work

In 1982 Lindberg joined the FDP. From 1984 he was chairman of the economic policy committee. In 1987 he became a member of the state executive committee of the FDP Hamburg . In the general election in the same year he won a mandate and moved into the 13th Hamburg parliament .
