Hans-Dieter Musch (born February 15, 1934 in Berlin ) is a journalist and book author.

Growing up in the Rheinpfalz ( Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) and in Baden-Württemberg ( Heilbronn am Neckar), Musch worked as a newspaper proofreader after an apprenticeship as a book printer (1950) . From 1960 he was a publisher and editor as well as the writer of a press service specializing in "colorful", and freelance for numerous German newspapers. From 1965 he was local editor at the Schwetzinger Zeitung , 1967/69 press officer for the television of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (Südfunk), Stuttgart. In 1969/70 he was editor for “for special use” (zbV) at the television magazine Gong in Nuremberg, then after Gruner + Jahr took over the publishing house for a while, he was transferred to Stuttgart to set up and manage an external office for the magazine. From 1975 he was press officer in the district of Böblingen ; from 1 January 1978 then press officer of the city of Gütersloh same time, from mid-1978 managing director of the tourist office Gütersloh. He has been retired since April 1998.

Although he had no studies, Musch became interested in art and history from an early age. Perhaps that explains why, as an editor at "Gong", he published a series about former broadcasters from the Süddeutscher Rundfunk. During his work as press officer for the district of Böblingen, the district administrator very quickly entrusted him with a kind of post as "art officer": Musch selected works of art for old people's homes and a district hospital, organized the festivities around school inaugurations and launched the series "Art in the district office" Life. It is thanks to his initiative that so much space was created in the newly built district administration that exhibitions could take place there. For some time, Musch volunteered to oversee the public relations work of the association for the rescue of the Herrenberg collegiate church .

As managing director of the Gütersloh tourist association, he initiated the “Gütersloh Summer” series of events and the “Gütersloh Ham Market” that takes place in autumn and picks up on Westphalian traditions. The historically interested journalist worked as a chronicler for the city. The symbol of the city, the Gütersloh carter , is also a child of Musch's ingenuity. The carting trade played a major role in Gütersloh in the 18th and 19th centuries.

In Gütersloh, Musch initiated the creation of a previously non-existent city archive through a letter to the editor in the three daily newspapers . It was created in 1984. He offered the visual artists in the city the opportunity to exhibit in the partner cities in France, Great Britain and Poland. This resulted in a lively cultural exchange. For a few years, based on an idea by Musch, another artist was able to design the city's greeting card for the New Year.

Musch is married to Christa geb. Henkel (* 1943 in Gläsendorf / Silesia) and has two adult children, Martin (* 1972) and Barbara (* 1973).
