Hans-Günter Friese (born May 11, 1940 ) is a German pharmacist from the Westphalian Fröndenberg . In addition to his career as an independent pharmacist own pharmacy in Fröndenberg, held Friese two decades leading positions in the pharmacists: as president of the Pharmacists' Association of Westphalia-Lippe, as president of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists (BAK) and as president of ABDA - Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists .

Career

Hans-Günter Friese was the fourth child of the master carpenter Otto Friese (* 1894, † 1954) and his wife Agnes, b. Thulfaut (* 1905, † 2002). His father came from Klingerswalde, Heilsberg district , East Prussia (today Lidzbark Warmiński , Poland), his mother from Fröndenberg . From 1931 the family lived on Ostbürener Strasse in Fröndenberg. Friese attended the Walram-Gymnasium in Menden in the Sauerland until he graduated from high school. He studied pharmacy in Marburg and obtained his license to practice medicine in 1967. Until he took over the market pharmacy in Fröndenberg in 1974, he worked as an employed pharmacist in a pharmacy in Neheim-Hüsten . In 1979 a branch pharmacy in the Hemmerde district of Unna was added. He has three children with his wife Elisabeth (née Kampmann) (* 1947). His daughter Anke also became a pharmacist and took over his pharmacies in 2012, which she still runs today.

Volunteering

From 1973 to 2009 Hans-Günter Friese was a member of the Chamber Assembly of the Westphalia-Lippe Chamber of Pharmacists in Münster and was elected to the Chamber Board in 1973. In 1977 Friese was elected Vice-President and in 1981 President of the Chamber of Pharmacists Westphalia-Lippe. Until he left the Westphalian-Lippe professional policy in 2009, he held the office of president.

At the federal level, Friese worked from 1973 to 1976 as a board member of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists and from 1984 to 1994 as its president. From 1996 to 2004 he was President of the ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations and, from November 1998 to October 2000, President of the EuroPharm Forum . Until he left the company in 2014, Friese was a member of the board of the Westfalen-Lippe Pharmacists Foundation, which was established in 2006 largely through his commitment. Even after leaving association politics, Friese continues to do voluntary work, e.g. B. as 1st chairman of the Friends of the Schmallenbach House, a retirement and nursing home in Fröndenberg. Thanks to his commitment, prominent speakers such as Theodor Dingermann , Manfred Schubert-Zsilavecz , Wolfgang Clement or Marianne Birthler could be won over for the annual lecture series of the Förderverein.

Positions

Hans-Günter Friese always speaks out against the approval of pharmaceuticals for mail order and for the owner-managed local pharmacy. In his opinion, “pharmaceuticals as a special good” always includes personal, individual advice in order to prevent possible dangers from drug interactions and overdoses. This can only be done adequately by the local pharmacy - with a personally liable owner who is not bound by instructions to any pharmacy chain controlled by corporations.

Awards

In 1996, Hans-Günter Friese received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his diverse voluntary work . In 2005 the International Pharmaceutical Federation awarded him the "Lifetime Achievement in the Pharmaceutical Practice Award" for his life's work, and he was also elected honorary president of the ABDA in the same year. In 2009, Friese received the medal of merit from the Westphalia-Lippe Chamber of Pharmacists and was awarded the Hans Meyer Medal and thus the highest award of the German Pharmacists' Association for his special services to the pharmacy and pharmaceuticals sector. Due to his national and international work, the city of Fröndenberg named him as the city's most famous citizen on the occasion of the Local Heroe campaign for the Ruhr.2010 cultural capital .
