Hans-Georg Herrlitz

Hans-Georg Herrlitz (born October 10, 1934 in Parlin, Schwetz / Weichsel district ) is a German educator .

Life

Herrlitz started school in Grutschno, Schwetz district. After escaping, he continued his school career at the municipal high school for boys ( Goethe School ) in Flensburg , where he passed his Abitur in 1954. From 1954 to 1959 he studied German, history, philosophy and education at the Universities of Freiburg i.Br. , Hamburg , FU Berlin and Kiel . He completed his studies with the state examination for teaching at secondary schools in the subjects of history and German. Herrlitz has been married since 1965.

In 1962 he received his doctorate at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Kiel with a doctoral thesis on the historical development of the reading canon in mother tongue teaching at grammar school . "Doctoral supervisor" was Fritz Blättner . He was then appointed research assistant at the Institute for Education at the University of Kiel (Director: Theodor Wilhelm ). From 1967 to 1969 he was a post-doctoral fellow from the German Research Foundation . In 1970 he received his habilitation in education from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Kiel. The subject of the habilitation thesis was Matura. Curriculum and social history studies on the emergence of the university entrance qualification problem in the 18th century .

He turned down a call to the University of Frankfurt am Main and in 1971 accepted a call to the Georg-August University of Göttingen as the successor to Heinrich Roth . His analyzes of the teaching profession and needs , mainly financed by the DFG, dealt with the overcrowding crises and the “ pig cycles ” - the teacher training course is regularly overcrowded at the wrong times or, on the other hand, the job market for teachers is empty.

Herrlitz began in 1972 with the scientific support of the school experiment " Integrated Comprehensive School Göttingen-Geismar " by the project group SIGS (Social Interaction in Comprehensive Schools), financed by funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Science and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education until 1980. He was a specialist reviewer for 12 years DFG, Senator of the University, Dean, Chairman of the Senate Committee for Physical Exercise. For 30 years he was editor of the journal Die Deutsche Schule, published by the Education and Science Union, and is an honorary member of the German Society for Educational Science .

Herrlitz retired in 2000.
