Hans-Henning Horstmann

Hans-Henning Horstmann (born August 29, 1945 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German diplomat .

Life

Horstmann did his military service from 1964 to 1966 , which he completed as captain of the reserve . After studying law and political science , he joined the Foreign Service in 1972 , where he was involved in various tasks. From 1991 to 1994 he worked as the press spokesman for Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker . From 1994 to 1998 he worked again in the Foreign Office , initially as head of the Western Europe section in the Political Department (until 1996) and later as head of the subdivision for North America and North, West and South Europe of the Political Department. In 1998 he was appointed to the post of Deputy Political Director in the Foreign Office and in 1999 moved to the Federal Government's Press and Information Office as Head of the Foreign Office .

From 2002 to 2006 he was extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Austria , from 2006 to 2010 extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Holy See ; Walter Jürgen Schmid was appointed his successor .

Hans-Henning Horstmann has been married to Illa Horstmann since 1971. You have two children. He is the brother of the OECD diplomat Barbara Ischinger .
