Barbara Ischinger

Barbara Ischinger (also Anne-Barbara Ischinger , born March 22, 1949 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German scientist . From 2006 to 2014 she was Director of Education at the OECD in Paris, where she was responsible for the PISA studies .

Life

After studying Romance Studies , African Studies and History in Tübingen, Heidelberg and Perugia in 1968–1972, she received her doctorate in 1972 from Heidelberg University . In the following years she worked as a lecturer at Harvard University in Cambridge , at Columbia University in New York City , in Washington and later at the University of Cologne , where she qualified as a professor in 1993. She has been an adjunct professor there since 1998. From 1994 to 2000 she was director of the Fulbright Commission for educational exchange between the USA and Germany, and before that she was director of cultural cooperation for three years at UNESCO . Subsequently she worked at the Humboldt University in Berlin as Vice President for International Affairs and Communication.

In Bonn the diplomat's daughter met her future husband, the diplomat Wolfgang Ischinger , from whom she has meanwhile divorced; Barbara Ischinger is the mother of two children, she is the sister of the German diplomat Hans-Henning Horstmann .

Barbara Ischinger is a member of the board of trustees of the Alfred Herrhausen Society , the advisory board of the Vodafone Stiftung Deutschland gGmbH and deputy chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Reading Foundation . She is also a member of the board of trustees of forum thomanum Leipzig eV and the advisory board of the University College Freiburg (UCF).
