Hans-Hermann Storm

Hans Hermann Storm (born March 5, 1937 in Elsdorf-Westermühlen ) is a German author and local researcher .

Life

Hans Hermann Storm grew up in Elsdorf-Westermühlen and attended the Waldorf School in Rendsburg . After completing an agricultural apprenticeship, he trained and became a teacher at DEULA .

In 1985 Storm published the first illustrated book So it was then, Life in the Country , in which he supplemented photos from the estate of his grandfather, the photographer and naturalist Jürgen Friedrich Mahrt , with folklore texts on everyday culture in the country of the 1920s and 1930s. Mahrt is considered a pioneer of documentary photography in Schleswig-Holstein . By 1995, five more volumes of Das Leben auf dem Lande had been published. The series was one of the most successful of its kind in northern Germany.

Storm subsequently published larger-format single picture volumes such as Vertellen von fröher (1999) and brought out the anthology Vertellen ut ole Tieden (2011) with north German folk tales . Since 1999 Storm has been writing regular Low German columns and a. for the Schleswig-Holsteinische Landeszeitung , in which he uses a photo to present former work and everyday culture and stories from the country. In 2016 a collection of the sh: z stories was published under the title Vertellen op Platt: Stories with Pictures from the Country as a book.

Storm lives in Rendsburg.
