Hans-Jürgen Grönke

Hans-Jürgen Grönke (born December 12, 1946 in Nordhausen ) is a German teacher, archivist and local history researcher.

Life

After attending school in Günzerode, Großwechselungen and Nordhausen, Hans-Jürgen Grönke studied pedagogy at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1968 . He completed his studies in 1972 as a qualified teacher. He then received various positions as a teacher at schools in the district and in the city of Nordhausen. In 1975 he was appointed honorary conservationist for the Nordhausen district.

In 1987 he played a key role in the design of the 19th Roland Festival and the 1060th anniversary of the city of Nordhausen. On this occasion, he and Jörg-Michael Junker wrote the publication Our Roland and his party. A local history review of the Nordhausen Rolandsfest and the members of the Rolandsgruppe , which was published by the Culture Department of the City Council of Nordhausen.

In 1993 he took over the position of head of the lower monument authority in the city of Nordhausen. In 2003 he became head of the city archive there (successor to Peter Kuhlbrodt ). As such, he was adopted into retirement on July 5, 2011 by Mayor Barbara Rinke .

As secretary, Grönke is a member of the board of the Harz Association for History and Archeology, where he heads the "Archeology of the Harz" working group. He is chairman of the Nordhausen History and Antiquity Association and a member of the Park Hohenrode Association .

As a local researcher, he publishes in the annual articles on the history of the city and district of Nordhausen, in the Harz journal of the Harz Association for History and Antiquity and in the regional press. He organizes conferences and excursions for club members and interested guests. In 2009 he published the publication Nordhausen Personalities from Eleven Centuries at Geiger-Verlag Horb am Neckar . As Volume 31 of the Harz Researches , Hans-Jürgen Grönke published the anthology on industrial history in the southern Harz in 2016 in the Lukas Verlag Berlin .
