Hans-Jürgen Greif (born November 27, 1941 in Völklingen , Saarland ) is a freelance writer , professor emeritus for French and German literature of the 19th century. He teaches German phonetics at the Québec City Conservatory of Music .

biography

Hans-Jürgen Greif completed his studies in Romance Studies , German Studies , Comparative Literature, Philosophy and Education in 1967 with a dissertation in Italian literature from the Risorgimento at the Saarland University . In 1969 he accepted a call from the University of Laval in Québec , where he taught French, German and, initially, Italian literature for 35 years , with a focus on the 19th century. In November 2007 he was appointed professor emeritus at Laval University. In March 2011 this university honored him for his work as a freelance artist.

Since he started at Laval University, he worked with the singing students at the Québec Music Conservatory. In 2006 he founded the Hans-Jürgen-Greif Foundation , which annually offers the best graduate student an annual scholarship.

He is the author of numerous articles on French and German-language literature and has published hundreds of book reviews in specialist journals. In addition, he has published essays, collections of short stories and novels in both languages. Several of his books have been translated into French, English, Spanish, German, Polish and Tamil .
