Athletic career

In 1970, at the age of 17, Hans-Jürgen Kinne moved from the company sports club (BSG) Stahl Brandis to the youth department of 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. In 1973 he was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team, for which he played nine international matches until 1974. In 1974 Kinne became champions of the junior league with 1. FC Lok . There he was used as a left winger in 1973/74 and was his team's top scorer with 14 goals. He was then accepted into the GDR youth national team, with which he had completed eleven international matches by 1977.

Already in the 1973/74 season, Kinne came to his first games in the men's division of 1. FC Lok. With the 2nd team he played three point games in the second-rate GDR league . In the following season 1974/75 he had his first three missions in the league, where he was in one game as a striker in the starting line-up. In the 2nd team, Kinne was a regular player with 19 appearances and seven goals in 22 point games. Lok II was relegated at the end of the season and then played in the third-class district league. With Kinne she became district champion and was classified in the newly created junior league for the 1976/77 season . With her, too, Kinne became champions in 1977 and 1978.

Between 1975 and 1978 the 1.82 m tall chin continued to be used sporadically in the first division team of 1. FC Lok, so that by the end of the 1977/78 season he had played 17 first division games. In 1978/79 he achieved his breakthrough in the league with 19 point games. He started ten times as a striker and scored three goals. Until 1984, Kinne was always part of the expanded player base and, in the seasons from 1978/79 to 1983/84, played 101 of 156 league league games as a striker or midfielder. But he was only in the starting line-up in 76 matches. Kinne played his most successful season at 1. FC Lok in 1980/81. He played 21 of 26 league games (18 times in the starting XI) and scored seven goals. He was also in the final of the GDR soccer cup, which Lok Leipzig won 4-1 over FC Vorwärts Frankfurt . Kinne was only used in the last three minutes.

After Kinne was called up almost exclusively as a substitute player in 15 league appearances in 1983/84, he moved to local rivals and league rivals Chemie Leipzig for the 1984/85 season. There he was able to win back the role as a regular player. He played all 26 league games and was used by coach Gerd Struppert in all defensive positions. Kinne also scored two goals. Although Chemie Leipzig had a difficult time in the major league, the team reached the quarter-finals in the GDR soccer cup. Kinne was also called up in all six games here.

At the end of the season, Chemie Leipzig had to relegate from the league. Kinne noticed this for another change and joined the league representative FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. There he began the 1985/86 season, initially with five league appearances as a substitute, then played five times from the start as a midfielder until he found a regular place as a defender from the 11th game day on. At the end of the season he had played all 26 league games and scored three goals. At the age of 30, Kinne started his last league season in the summer of 1986. First he was able to play as a defender for five match days as usual in the Erfurt Oberliga team, then he was injured and could only be used as a substitute in the last two league games of the first half of the season.

After 177 games in the league, in which he had scored 26 goals, Kinne moved to the second half of the 1986/87 season for the third-rate district division club Robotron Sömmerda and helped him move up to the GDR league. In the GDR league season 1987/88 Kinne played ten of 34 point games. For the season 1988/89 he was named by BSG Robotron again for the GDR league contingent, but was no longer used. This ended his career as a football player in the higher class area.
