Hans-Jürgen Thomas

Hans-Jürgen Friedrich Thomas (born October 10, 1939 in Brieg / Silesia ) is a German doctor and professional medical officer .

Life

Thomas was born in Brzeg in 1939 as the second child of Veronika and Gerhard Thomas. During the Second World War , his father became a prisoner of war and the family fled to Naumburg (Saale) . In 1947 Gerhard Thomas returned from captivity and the family moved first to Dülmen and then to Dorsten , where Hans-Jürgen graduated from high school in 1961 . After completing his military service , he began to study medicine at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in the winter semester of 1962/63 . In 1969 he passed his state examination and received his doctorate with the thesis “ EKG memory examinations during ergometer work and 800 or 400 meter runs to determine the maximum heart rates achieved ”. After his license to practice medicine, he began his training at various hospitals in 1970 and established himself as a general practitioner in Erwitte in 1971 . In 2006 he finished his medical practice.

Professional policy

Thomas joined the Hartmannbund in 1969 and became chairman of the Soest district association in 1973. In 1981 he was elected chairman of the Westphalia-Lippe regional association. In 1985 he became a member of the board of directors of the Federal Association of the Hartmannbund and from 1989 became national chairman. He held these offices until 2005.

From 1985 to 2005 Thomas was a member of the chamber assembly of the Medical Association Westphalia-Lippe (ÄKWL). From 1993 to 2005 he was also Vice President of the ÄKWL.

Red Cross commitment

Thomas joined the German Red Cross in Erwitte in 1972, was initially a Red Cross doctor, and from 1992 to 2014 chairman of the local association. In 2006 Thomas was one of the initiators of the founding of the DRK district association Lippstadt-Hellweg e. V. and was its first chairman until November 2016.
